Please read the following from our Social Worker Trisha Jack:
There have been some questions about the Social-Emotional-Behavioral Consent Form that went home last week.
We offer groups and/or individual support on several topics including: self-esteem, coping skills, friendship skills, social skills, conflict resolution, etc. These groups are in addition to learning that happens in the classroom and are generally held once or twice per week for thirty minutes, depending on the needs of the students. They also last only a matter of weeks, not all year. All participation is optional and is aimed at getting kids a little extra support in areas where they could use a bit more.
When safety becomes a concern, follow-up is required. Most of the time, this looks like kids saying something when they are upset and is quickly resolved. If larger concerns come up, we will reach out to you and let you know what is going on and work together for a solution.
If you are not comfortable with your child participating in small groups or individual support, that is fine. If you change your mind at any time, please reach out. We would love to support all students in any way we can!
