Signs of Spring are coming and so is Spring Break! RSU 10 will have "April Vacation" as planned on our 2019-20 calendar. We are awaiting news about providing meals during this time. Maine has put in for a waiver and we will get the news out as soon as we can.

School buses will deliver learning materials this afternoon. The plan is for the buses to follow their normal routes, and stick as closely as possible to the normal schedule. Not every BJSHS student has items to be delivered, but please be prepared to greet the bus if it stops.

School meal pickups are going well! However, with today's extra meals for the weekend, it is taking longer than expected. Meal pickups at Hartford Town Office and the Universalist Church on Front Street in West Sumner are delayed by 30-45 minutes, but will still happen today!

Good Afternoon: RSU 10 has been continually monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to be proactive in protecting the health and safety of our community, RSU 10 schools will be closed for students Monday, March 16t h through Friday, March 27t h . This closure is not the result of any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our immediate communities. This decision was made in consultation with many, and out of an abundance of caution, to follow the rapidly changing guidance regarding enhancing social distancing efforts. This decision has not been made lightly and we certainly empathize and understand the significant burden this will cause families in the coming days. On Monday, staff will report for their regularly scheduled day. Administrators will meet with staff in their buildings at 8:00 a.m. Plans for the rest of the day will be shared. Much more information will be forthcoming on this closure, but we want to communicate this news to you as soon as possible so you may begin planning for child care and other concerns that will be raised by this decision. We will be working with our administrative team and board members to provide more information as soon as possible. During this closure, we ask that you assist by minimizing group meetings of students and adults. Practicing social distancing and good personal hygiene are the two greatest steps we can take to protect our communities from the spread of COVID-19. Finally, we would like to commend each of our stakeholders who are contributing positive energy and dynamic solutions to our schools’ response to this fluid situation. We as a district shall remain composed, collected and compassionate as we navigate through any challenges we face now and in the future. Thank you, Deb Alden
