Dear MVMS Students, Parents and Guardians,
MVMS continues to believe we need to bring our 7th and 8th grade students back to school 4 days per week. Unfortunately, we will not be quite ready to open the Mexico Recreation Center Annex on Monday, April 26, 2021 as planned due to a few details that need to be in place to provide safety and optimum learning conditions.
Therefore, both 7th and 8th Grade will continue on the hybrid schedule of Blue and Red days for one week after the April break. During that week we will gauge our readiness and inform parents of a solid start date for returning students to 4 days of learning. See below for our intended timeline below:
Proposed New Timeline Starting May 3, 2021:
Students in 8th Grade: Students will alternate between attending MVMS and the Recreation Center depending on their hybrid blue or red group they have been following this year. We will be adding a 6th teacher, therefore there will be some regrouping of students within the blue and red cohorts. The team will be in contact with the students regarding any new groupings.

Students in 7th Grade: Students will attend 4 days of instruction at MVMS and spread out into the vacant 8th grade classrooms. We will be adding a 6th homeroom. It will be necessary to regroup students from 5 to 6 homerooms. The team will be in contact with the new groupings.
Wednesdays: Wednesdays will remain an at home learning day for all 7th and 8th grade students. Students will be required to check in for attendance and complete assignments and zoom classes, as before.
We will continue to monitor our ability to keep our students safe and follow the required guidelines. If the guidelines change at the state level, or we have COVID-19 cases in our school, we must be prepared to respond with student and staff safety in mind. We are all looking forward to seeing our students in person next week. A final decision on this proposed May 3, 2021 start date will be made following the April Break.
