RSU 10 TECHNOLOGY

RSU 10 has made significant investments over the years into technology, which allows us to support the growth & education of our students and staff. We currently use a state approved Student Information System (SIS) called PowerSchool. Our goal continues to be providing 1-to-1 device access to all staff and students.

Device Information:

  • Students in grades K-2 will be assigned a 10.2" Apple iPad.

  • Students in grades 3-12 will be assigned a 13” Apple MacBook Air.

  • Teachers, Ed-Techs and all other staff will be assigned a 13” Apple MacBook Air.

Staff Professional Development & Resources

Network Information:

All District buildings are covered by high speed internet access and wireless networks. The buildings are linked together through a microwave wide area network (WAN). The Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) stated goal is gigabit speed to the classroom.

TECHNOLOGY PERSONNEL

Level 1 – Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist

Level I Information Technology Specialists are responsible for desktops, laptops, tablets, peripherals and other IT related equipment and hardware. They set up devices for new users and are typically responsible for any physical work relating to the devices, such as repairing software or hardware issues and moving devices to another location. Level 1 provides deskside support for students and staff.

Level 2 – Information Technology (IT) Manager

A more in-depth technical support level, containing experiences and more knowledgeable personnel on a particular product or service. It is synonymous with level II support, administrative level support and various other headings denoting advanced technical troubleshooting and analysis methods. Technicians in this realm of knowledge are responsible for helping Level I personnel and for investigating elevated issues by confirming the validity of the problem and seeking known solutions related to those more complex issues.

Network/Help Desk Manager

Manages student personal, enrollment and testing data. Responsible for data integrity and accuracy throughout multiple required programs. Provides system administration support for various software programs. Staff liaison for technology related software training.

Oversees timely delivery of quality technical support service to staff and students. Responsible for designing, implementing, configuring, updating and administering district local and wide area network systems, telephone systems and other telecom and network related infrastructure. Put in place and maintain network security protocols across the RSU.
